Christmas eating

behaviour change mindset Dec 13, 2022

December is the month of weight gain and decadence.

This is a tale as old as Father Christmas.

Except, unlike Saint Nick, this story is a load of rubbish.

It gives you a chance to buy into the story in your head for another month, or it gives you the chance to look at things differently.

I am not saying you can or should try to drop weight in December. What I am saying is you can do more than you think.

It blew my mind to see the average weight loss over our 70 clients on Consistent Christmas last year had an average weight change of a 1lb loss and no one gained the 7lbs that was like reindeer poo in Santa's garden (everywhere) in the intake questionnaires.

It just shows that if you take a different approach that you can have your Christmas cake and eat it too.

Have 1 glass instead of 1 bottle.
Order a side salad and leave some food on your plate.
Go for a walk or do a workout at home.

There are always ways to improve. Doing better doesn't have to be doing your best. It doesn't have to be "No booze, gravy, dessert December" or "Daily 10k December". For many "Less Disastrous December" would be a marked improvement that would be seen in the scales come the start of January.

The above examples are all part of enjoying alcohol, meals out and prioritising your health. It's simply adapting these to your life so they have a smaller knock on effect.

If you'd like more ideas on how to navigate Christmas then check out last week's podcast - "Consistent Christmas Volume 1 - How to handle your food" here.

Don't forget to share with a friend if they often moan about getting fat over Christmas and you're sick of hearing about it.
